Welshpool & Llanfair Pickering Coaches (1:19)

Accucraft UK - When it was opened in 1902 the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway was supplied with three very fine bogie carriages by Messrs. R. Y. Pickering of Glasgow.  These comprised two similar brake composites and an all third fitted with end balconies, fall plates to allow access from one to another, oil lighting and set on American type bogies.  Originally painted in Cambrian Railways bronze green with white upper panels, they later carried all over bronze green and eventually G.W.R. chocolate and cream.  When passenger services were suspended in 1931 the coaches were sent to Swindon for ‘storage’ but never re-entered traffic and were broken up in 1936.  That would have been the end of the story but for a desire by the preserved W & L to reverse history and through the generosity of donors a complete new rake was built by the Ffestiniog Railway at their Boston Lodge works.
The models of the W & L Pickering coaches are offered in the simplified G.W.R. chocolate and cream livery and will also be available in green and cream. The coaches feature full seating detail and working fall plates. Construction is plastic with die cast metal bogies. In its G.W.R. guise the brake composite is available with two running numbers, 6338 or 6466, the 3rd Class saloon is numbered 4154.  The coaches come with a 45mm insulated wheel set fitted but a 32mm wheel set is provided for use on ‘0’ gauge. Couplings are chopper type but have a hook fitted if you wish to remove the chopper hook and use 3 link chains.  The coaches look superb when fitted with interior lighting.
